There is a lot more to a relationship, but they can if you make them. It takes a lot of effort and will be very difficult at times, but if you both feel the same way about each-other it can definitely work. (See Tylar and Chris, the most adorable couple ever.)

Long-distance relationships can work. You're just not doing it right.

Depending on how long it is before you meet the person, or since you met them and how long before you get to see them again, it sometimes just suffers a heavy influence from time. I had something with a boy from Moscow for a while, but it got to a point after 6 or 7 months where he said if we were to meet up he'd only want an open relationship (he'd decided) ..which is not something I can see myself being apart of, and so I ended it.
You need to just connect really well, see eachother as soon as possible or as much as possible, or just hope that nothing unseen suddenly comes between you.

Well seeing as how there's already a nice unseen 3000+ miles between us so I should hope not. I've got a lot riding on this, but a the same time I want him to be happy whether(sorry spelling >.<) it's with me or with someone else. But i sure would love if it was with me

I'm in a long distance relationship, in a way, he lives 3 hours away. We work just fine and see each other often enough. We've recently celebrated 6 months together

If he loves you enough it could work..I was in a long distance relationship for about 3 months when my boyfriend went home for a quarter. It was horrible though, its the worse thing in the world, but it can work if its not for too long imo. Also its a lot harder if you're used to spending all your time together and then it becomes long distance, if it was long distance from the start, well the relationship probably isn't as intimate and it will be easier to maintain.

3 hours away is do-able. But 3000+ miles is ehh a little more difficult. My problem is the minimal amount of affection that can be shown from so far away.. his is trying to stay faithful to someone you cant even make eye contact with. And how can I blame him for that?

If he loves you enough he can do it, If not he's probably not the one for you and you should probably find someone closer to you, honestly I saw in one of your threads that you're 'new' to this, and this is not how you should be starting it out. Go with your gut if you want to stay with him then do it, but if you feel that its not worth it get out.
Because I know that feeling you get like everyday a piece of your heart gets smashed, and someone should only go through that if the person they're doing it for is worth it.

oh you just had to bring that up >.> lol that was a long time ago xD
I can handle a piece of my heart being smashed everyday. But when he said "this isn't working" my entire heart shattered. It's like... peace through pain. That even though i know right now this hurts.... it's not going to be forever. But some people are a little more accustomed to heartache than others, I guess.
