Anyone have an idea what it is about? I think it looks like Godzilla or something of the sort, what do you guys think?

nobody knows, that's the point. i've been following this movie for about 4 months, but abrams is keeping it all tightly under wraps, and i'm not sure i really want to know more in case it ruins the movie for me.

clearly it's a riff on godzilla, but who knows how wildly it will stray from that inspiration, or what other sources it might turn to (hand held camera work is reminiscent of lots of movies, and the trailer made me think of The Host meets Children of Men). if you want to track down more rumours about it, check out http://www.aintitcool.com/

regardless, i'm really excited to see it!

It does look very cool. I couldn't figure out from the preview what it's about. I was thinking more of a clever alien movie - with the kind of alien from outer-space, not Mexico. Not showing whatever was destroying the city was rather interesting. Throwing Lady Liberty's head into New York City was kinda...inspiring.

I'm dying to see it. I stopped hunting for insights into the move cause it might ruin the movie.

It's something huge but there seems to be more to it, as in one of the advertisements in a make-shift hospital a women goes 'we have a bite' then behind a curtain two men in hazmat suits wrestle a women whose abdomen seems to erupt with parasites.

There's clearly the giant threat then smaller things that somehow both provide a threat, the part in the ad where they are running through a sewer/underground tunnel and hear noises would not be from the giant that destroys buildings and the statue of liberty.

That's the vibe I first got from the trailer too, but it's a monster movie - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield

It looks really cool. Can't wait! ^^

Yeah, in one of the ad's, they were like "Go above ground, we die, go in the tunnels, we die." So it looks very intresting.

I'm not planning on seeing it simply because the entire premise of the movie is making people wonder what there is to see.

I think that was kinda the idea. o.O It's a "teaser" in the fullest sense of the word.

EDIT: Wait, shouldn't this be moved into "Anything Goes"? Now that I think about it, the forums are a tad confusing if you're taking a quick glance and not reading the descriptions. Perhaps "General Chat" should be renamed to "General Gay Chat"? o.o
