What's the last film you watched?

Unread postby Jacketh » 21st February, 2016, 10:41 am

Simply say the last film you watched, and give a brief comment & rating. Put any obvious spoilers in spoiler tags.

I watched Dallas Buyers Club yesterday with my family. I've been meaning to watch it for agess, but its clear why Matthew Mcconaughey won Oscars for it a couple of years ago. Takes a real story exploring a serious issue, adds a fair bit of humour, but is really quite moving. 8/10

(I know we have Film of the Moment, but that has had four pages in about two years, and I think this concept may work slightly better :P)

Ex Machina: really interesting film about Artificial Intelligence- I'd definitely recommend it.

Dallas Buyers Club is a great film. I score it 9/10.

The last film I watched was Interstellar, which also stars Matthew Mcconaughey, and Matt Damon. It's a very good film. I give it 10/10.

Pitch Perfect 2. It's a really good comedy film that made me just want to burst out into song. Makes me wish I went to university in America. I now need to watch the first one.. 9/10

Absolutely excellent film, I watched it last month and I loved it. Oscar Isaac's performance altogether was brilliant, he should have been nominated for an Oscar (and the film itself).

I watched Falling Down which stars Michael Douglas, and it's about a man who is growing tired of his 9-to-5 job and one day just snaps and goes around the city attacking people, while a cop tries to bring him down. Excellent film and quite suspenseful too, I'd recommend it for anyone who likes psychological thrillers.

This is a perfect thread for me, because I'm literally addicted to films :keke:

I actually watched two tonight. First one I watched was the Skype based film Unfriended. There is only one way I can describe the film and that's straight up awful. It was trying to be scary with pixelated webcams and things suddenly happening. If it weren't for my housemates I'd have turned it off wishing 10 minutes. It wouldn't have been too bad if they explained stuff at the end but they didn't.

Second of all I watched a film I've literally been waiting years to see and that's Green Inferno. Due to extremely graphic content it wasn't allowed to be released but that changed on Monday just gone. I'll say this now the film is certainly not for the faint hearted. It's made by Eli Roth who is most known for the films Hostel and Cabin fever. If you know either of those films you get the idea of how things will turn out. I can say I really enjoyed the film, I felt immersed and like I wanted to find out what was going on from the beginning till the end. Yeah there were times when I just couldn't watch but I still liked it a lot however I feel it will differ from person to person.

I'd say Unfriended is worth an easy 2/10 (would be one but it didn't have bad horror effects) and Green Inferno being a 8/10 by my standards :)

Deadpool. Probably the most rewatchable of any of those comic book movies.
Sits with the Captain America films at the top of the marvel movie pile.

I went to go see that new horror film that came out yesterday called The Forest and even though I know a lot of people didn't like the film, I actually did. It was smart how they went about the film. Yes the film does primarily try to scare with jump scares but there were a good few which weren't the cheesy kind which is actually good. The twist at the end, which I won't give away, actually caused a pretty satisfying ending. There were one or two things that didn't make any sense at all but I'm willing to look over them. Overall I liked the fact that with the theme of the film they managed to do a psychological vibe to a ghost film and do it well. If I were to give it a rating I'd say 8/10 but if you are a bit iffy with ghost films I'd say wait until it's on TV or DVD to watch :D

I watched The Revenant last night, I didn't find it that great, stunning visuals but it was a bit too boring for my liking to be honest.

I watched Wrong Cops the other week (I don't have much time to watch movies). It's an absurdist film by Quentin Dupieux, and while it isn't as iconic and have the same amazing camera work as Rubber or the subtleties of Steak, I enjoyed it. Defo would recommend watching if you want a change to the whole hollywood boring as fuck storyline thing. Plus the soundtrack is amaze.

7/10 compared to other absurdist movies.

I watched Spotlight today. Really, really enjoyed it. Could see a lot of people maybe finding it boring as its very office-heavy and very investigatory, but the story and (true) discovery of the abuse and cover up in the Catholic church is just fascinating.

I'd really recommend it.

To be honest I don't think I've seen a movie since the start of January and I can't even remember what it was called :P

It was pretty predictable and boring and relied on some action scenes to provide any entertainment. 3/10 I slept through a lot.

I'm watching my way through In The Name of The Rose which is a historical murder mystery set in 1327 about mysterious deaths occurring in an Italian Benedictine Abbey.
It's interesting so far. One of the reasons I'm watching it is that it get's praise from medieval historians for being pretty accurate for what it is. So that's interesting to see.

Recently watched one of my guilty pleasure films. Mr and Mrs Smith. I know it's not a great film but there is just something about it that I love. It's just so awesome :3
