THE HIP-HOP/RAP/RnB thread - DAMN.

Unread postby hamid95 » 28th August, 2014, 6:47 am

Now, it's come to my mind that a number of GTF-ers are into these particular types of genres, and me being a label-obsessed a-hole want you to post in this thread, rather. Will this take off? Not sure. (But at least I have some level of original ideas, Max!)

We'll give it a go, starting off with a classic.

If y'all want some soul music or funk or whatever, I'm down with that, too.

Here's a list of essentials for anyone interested, but not feeling fully integrated within this culture of music. If anyone wants to add anything, it's prone to change for new additions. Just pop a post.

Oh well, Run The Jewels by Killer Mike and El-P is the shit.

Also, if we want this and the rock thread to go through the roof, let's just shit post some wacky gifs three times in a row. It's fool proof!

I got that - to an extent. I'm not particularly fond of labels, you see, and the DG entries in the other thread were more than welcome, but I decided to still take the opportunity and see what kind of habitat this might become.

EDIT: Alright, DG is more than just hip-hop, if not being that, at all.

Why would you merge RnB into the hip-hop/rap thread, Hamid? I'd say RnB has more links with pop music.

Sure, I can put your essentials up there, Jack.

Feeling doubtful about trip-hop, but it's not a genre overflowing with acts, so I'll allow it. Just try and not submit something sounding clearly out of place here.

Can we specify genres on essentials?

Like I wouldn't put FKA twigs in the same spot that I put other r&b artists.

And there should be an experimental hip hop essential.

Well, I've added a few other albums to the list. It's mainly hip-hop and rap on it, right now. Maybe later I'll specifically go for some clear examples of RnB later.
