I love this one. And I love his voice. Plus he's cute.

But we all know that this year something that is not a ballad will win. This year is full of ballads so something that stands out will win.

I hope Blanche delivers a killer performance in Kiev and wins... if not, I'm happy with Italy winning. Just don't let Sweden get it yet another time.

Dervish! How ya been?

It is quite a poor year imo. I can't see Belgium winning. I just can't see anyone other than Italy winning. I expect Sweden to do pretty well, but it does lose a bit with the switch to friggin'

Having the time of my life, aye, you?

I kinda agree with you. Comparing 2017 to 2016, this year turns to be much worse. Most songs are just 'good' when they should be 'great'. At least I'm proud of Polish choice (and British, too, revamp gave you a pretty strong entry). And though I'd like Belgium too win, I also see Italy winning. His song is more funky and can reach wider audience. Blanche's puts off some poeple, as I've seen the comments.

On a side note, I'm happy too see Belarussian finally on stage. Didn't even know it has so many similarities with Polish language.

Controversial opinion: Russia knew that their entry would cause a reaction from Ukraine and did it anyway.

This year restored my faith in Eurovision. So many good entries imo. My faves being Belgium, Belarus, Russia, France, and Hungary. To elaborate:
I'm big on countries singing in their native languages, part of the reason why I was super happy about Jamala's win, particularly because she is a minority. But also, she is so talented. I listen to her a lot.

So that is why I like Hungary this year. It is a big deal that they chose a Roma/Romani/Cigány, however u like, to represent them. I love them and their culture, and am a big supporter of them. I love how his act has a Roma woman dancing too. His song has a lot of Roma-influence in the sound, including the violin. Also the song is in Hungarian.

Belgium's entry is less cliché than other songs sung in English. The song is perhaps closest to the type of music I tend to listen to. Overall a good entry all around.

Belarus's song is in Belarusian, and it's really good. I like the Of Monsters and Men vibe they have and the video is cute. They have nice voices and they sound especially good together. They have other good songs on their albums, some are in Russian.

France is good. I don't usually like the big countries to win, like the UK, Germany, France, etc. But I have to admit that they have an excellent entry this year.

For Russia, the song is in English, and it is kinda cliché, but Yulia Samoilova has an excellent voice and she's also very cute. Russia has a big internal problem with the general treatment of handicapped people, so I was surprised with their choice of entry. I am really saddened to hear that she is being banned from the competition. I think it goes against the message about celebrating diversity. I understand, Ukrainian-Russo relations are poor right now, but I think that taking it out in Eurovision is childish and political.

That's my shpiel

Edit: I'll link Russia because they are the only entry I mentioned that hasn't been linked in this thread so far

To be honest Armenia grew so much on me it's my favourite (just like last year, even the same composer). A masterpiece.

Iveta was better but still, this... is magic. These folky vibes and those shifts in tempo.

But I am biased because I love Armenia.

Ok so I kinda like Kristian Kostov, of Bulgaria, (though he speaks Russian and currently lives there I think). His song isn't amazing, but his looks are :D  My bet is that Bulgaria will win ESC this year. You heard it here first, folks.

He's currently second in the odds, only after Italy. I wouldn't be mad with that victory. Bulgaria's serving quality song for the second time in the row.

There is something about that gap that I weirdly like.

Is that weird?

I'm in love  .
I was afraid that this year would be full of screeching woman vocalists. I am glad to see that this is not the case.

Like or can't stop watching (like you can't stop watching a car crash)? One of my coworkers has a similar gap and I can't stop staring at it when he is talking.

In other news - ours finally made the music video for the song available a few days ago. A video which I won't bother posting because it's terrible. They also made the song terrible. It's not like it was going to qualify before, because if was quite dated. But it wasn't a bad song. it still had a bit of a timeless classic vibe. But they tried making it modern. And failed.
