I think I may start using it now

Surely can't be that much to do now?

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if 99% of members stick with the current theme (although, everyone should consider it for the mobile theme) - but anyone visiting the site from the point its implemented won't know any different. There will be their GTF, and any theme change in the future would feel odd to them for the exact same reason as it is does for AeroBlue.

Okay so one thing that's been bothering me about quotes is nested quotes, because the "____ wrote:" part is aligned directly above where the text begins for that user, but because of the bulky quotation marks, their name is too far aligned right and it makes it look messy I think? Like I almost had trouble figuring out which user said what during an extensive nested quote that I saw in another thread.

Does anyone else vibe with what I'm saying here, or am I just being ornery? Because with quotes on AeroBlue there was like a bar on the top with the user who posted in it, which made things very clean and easy to read. Not sure if aligning the top of the quote hard left would change anything or if that's even possible, I'm just trying to give as much feedback as I can.

Big orange dot = you posted in this thread
Orange tag = sticky

Maybe there should be a legend :P

Am I the only one who keeps getting thrown off by this? The orange dot appears to be a blatant notification due to the harsh contrast, so is there any way we could make the orange dot signify new posts in a thread you've posted in? I keep clicking on threads that don't have any new posts since my last visit, because the dot is making me think that there are.

The theme is now quite usable on a standard desktop. But to be honest... I hate the damned thing on a mobile device. There is so much wasted space and everything is too big and ... It just looks horrible. And it's not even the problem with the theme itself. All these responsive themes look the same and it's just not nice.

Also... we really need some clearer separation between the left information section and the post itself. That spacing is just not doing it for me. I would go for less spacing and either a line or some color shade or something. It would probably help on a mobile device as well.

Plus when you are adding a post the editor doesn't size quite right. It's too small for the window (which is annoying when you see the smiles and other stuff around).

And yet another thing: the country flags are missing. And I kind of miss those.

On the other hand I really like the new quotes and how they stand out. But I do also agree with JT about the name of the author not being perfectly clear. I think that moving the name a bit to the left would probably solve this.

It seems like a minor glitch but the orange dot thing on the mail/PM near the top kinda "flash" once whenever you're refreshing on going to a new page.

Tbh I feel like the whole forum under the theme could use the bolder and clearer separation between content (posts, thread, who's online, etc.). It's a bit annoying.

Sorry if it been suggested before but in the Members tab searching for any member seem difficult for 1) there is no quick search like in the old theme and 2) weirdly it wants the entire username if you want to find anyone.

I'd urge everyone who was reluctant at the start because of the lack of features to now it give it a try as most are now there. It does take some getting use to, but it is starting to feel cleaner and overall better.

Yeah, I noticed this. Isn't a massive issue and only takes 10 seconds more to find someone, though! :P

Not sure if its been mentioned but spoilers don't appear to be working.

I agree about the quotes looking nicer.

I echo this wholeheartedly, I'm having a much easier time navigating the old theme on mobile. The scale of everyone on the new theme leaves me with bad headaches, but that's probably because I don't wear my glasses while on the phone :rip:

I did some experiments with the "request desktop site" feature on android.

Chrome:

Firefox:

As you can see Firefox actually does what it is supposed to do.

So, how are things progressing with this?
I think what we need now is a new logo that will go with this theme. Other than that the theme is pretty much ready for general use. I've been using it for a while now and I am pretty happy with it.

The only major thing wrong is the thing breaking on mobile in Chrome.

I did however manage to find another small bug... when posting a picture attachment the images get clipped instead of resized.

New in Quarto:

  • Support for spoiler tags
  • Country flags
  • Reduced distance between subforums/topics*
  • Moderators will now find their handy dandy :wasteland: button at the bottom of every thread that is not already in the Wasteland.

*This change may not show up unless you refresh your stylesheets manually.

I'm with you. Truth be told, my main motivation for getting the new theme going is actually to make Google [Bot] happy, not people.

Chrome is actually doing what it promises to do as far as requesting stuff goes, but Firefox realises that that alone is not enough, so it also helpfully pretends to have a larger viewport.

Is it possible on the theme side to fix this?

Because I use Firefox on my phone as my primary browser and I don't want things like GTF being mixed together with my work stuff and shit. So I use Chrome as my "naughty" browser where I keep stuff that isn't for everyone. I use a similar thing on my desktop computers where I just use a portable version of the browser with it's own settings and history and everything.

EDIT: Never mind. I did a bit of googling. I used App cloner to just clone the firefox apk. So now I can have two instances of Firefox running with different history and settings and everything. Just like on a real desktop. Android can be quite awesome sometimes.

It's actually quite a nice design for a forum that uses the rather ugly PhpBB rather than the far more aesthetically pleasing forum software MyBB or the rather expensive but sexy XenForo. Anyhow, I'm enjoying the modern flat design and it may be one of the best PhpBB forum designs I've seen. Kudos to 'PixelGoose Studio' and the admins making modifications.
