I tried it. Couldn't get used to the theme, I've used the blue one for so many years. :wtc:

I think I may start using it now

Surely can't be that much to do now?

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if 99% of members stick with the current theme (although, everyone should consider it for the mobile theme) - but anyone visiting the site from the point its implemented won't know any different. There will be their GTF, and any theme change in the future would feel odd to them for the exact same reason as it is does for AeroBlue.

It might possibly be my eyes not being accustomed to it yet, but every time I've used the darker theme I've felt quite confused when looking active topics - at what I've looked at and what I haven't looked at.

Image

They're exactly the same, but I think it may possibly be the blue borders on the darker one that makes it a little more confusing - everything is so blue :runaway:

What is the orange symbol supposed to be telling me? That I've posted on that thread or that it is very active? Perhaps it would look a lot better and clearer without that.

Image

I'm struggling to explain it, and like I said, its probably just my eyes - but I think the folders are more "clearer".

Not that much essential stuff I guess :)

Yeah, that's the feeling I have too.

In your chosen colour scheme:

Dark blue = new posts
Light blue / greyed out = no new posts

Big orange dot = you posted in this thread
Orange tag = sticky
Megaphone = announcement

Maybe there should be a legend :P

I just switched again. It's slowly getting there.

I still miss bookmarks link and I hate the fact that unread posts and other such shit are not available anywhere but on the index page.

But I did however manage to find the "bookmark topic" button all the way on the bottom of the page. So the whole thing is usable now.

Could we make that orange dot less annoying or get rid of it? I don't personally see much use for it.

And make the grayed out/dark blue color tones more pronounced? Because there really isn't much difference between the two. At least not when the orange dot is there.

And yes ... there should be a legend.

Alright, so it's a little crazy, but I hope this will do for now. :D

I added all my custom searches, and my hover-over descriptions to make them all less confusing, and put them all on every page.

I also deleted the "Mark all forums read" option because it was in the way, scary, dangerous, stupidly placed and rarely used.

I'll think of ways to make it all look better later. (I also may find a better place for the "Mark all forums read" option if anyone actually wants it.)

I'll think about it. It is kind of surprising there isn't a legend built-in!

Its defo' a bit of an eyesore. I feel like the big orange blob should be suggesting something more significant (like the thread is bookmarked, or something) than that I've simply posted on that thread at some point in history. It should be the newer threads that are standing out, but instead it draws your eyes to ones that might not interest you that much anymore and that you/I might have posted in months ago. Weird.

Thanks for the new toolbar at the top! :keke:

Awesome!
I can now finally use this theme full time. The new links look a bit funny, but I am not sure what else you could do about it. Maybe use images instead of text links?

Thanks, this is helpful input :keke: I'll think about it.

Maybe, or maybe icons beside the text (although that might lead to some kind of mental overload with all the other icons in this theme :P).

I was also thinking about deduplicating the word 'View', turning them into a dropdown menu, or putting them into a sub-level of the main navigation bar if I can do that neatly. Though I really want to avoid hiding them away too much because they're so useful and new members need to realise that they exist.

I don't like the idea of moving these buttons to a dropdown menu. They definitely need to be on top level. But I would actually remove the "view" part from all of them. It would probably look less cluttered.

I'd agree with that, yeah. It does look a bit repetitive as well :D

The thing I find most difficult on it is that the Board Index doesn't show which thread the last post was in in each sub-forum, just the poster. It's one of the best parts of Aero Blue, though I know it's something you added in later. :P

Out of curiousity, for new users who stumble across GTF, is Aero Blue still the default theme, or is it one of the Quatro themes now?

I actually kind of want this to be a real option.

Those pastels. Much aesthetic.

I expect to make some changes to the order later, but for now I think this is better:

Haha :)

Thread titles are now shown on the board index.

Still AeroBlue, at least until I fix the most egregious things that are still wrong with Quarto.

I'm not sure I like the size of the quoted post in the "users who quotes you" section, and likewise I think there's too much of a gap between the other user's information and the post itself. Thoughts?

I like how the quote stands out tbh. But the gap could be smaller.
