The Amazing Spider-Man, it was pretty decent. I loved Andrew Garfield so much more than Maguire's Peter Parker, cuter, more charismatic, better personality although a bit dickish and cocky very early.

I also just watched Savages, it was okay. The opening/intro was a bit annoying and cringeworthy, except for a hot sex scene, and the ending would have been so much better if it ended a few minutes earlier (you'll know what I mean if you see it).

Some of the one-liners in this made me chuckle:

Also... Josh Hutcherson.

I just watched The Thing on TV. I don't know why the reception wasn't more positive. It's a pretty decent sci-fi horror movie.

The Snowtown Murders.

fuck it. i thought the dynamic between the main kid and Bunting was very well-handled, though i wonder how 'true' much of it is (not that it matters), and it's solidly crafted, great acting and all

worth a whirl, if you can stomach the unflinching violence and aussie accents

The comedy in the movie was perfect!
Rufus T. Firefly: Lieutenant, why weren't the original indictment papers placed in my portfolio?
Bob Roland: Why, uh, I didn't think those papers were important at this time, your excellency.
Rufus T. Firefly: You didn't think they were important? Do you realize I had my dessert wrapped in those papers?

Loved that film, George Clooney makes some class films to be honest. I'm a big fan of Up in the Air.

Going to the cinema tomorrow to watch Magic Mike, total cliche, but looking forward to it anyway.

I just finished watching 'Wings of Desire' which I personally find to be a masterpiece of film achievement. The plot revolves around angels who observe West Berlin, never directly interfering, but watching, and sometimes helping their minds to relax. In the end, one of the angels decides to chose mortality over love for a woman, which changes the black & white film into colour to show his ability to physically interact in the world.

There's also a few subplots involving another ex-angel and a poet called Homer who wanted to write an epic, but of peace than war. The undertones of the future of Germany and Berlin (as the Wall was still up) also resound during the entire film.

I'd really reccomend it for anyone who can tolerate a film that operates in German, French and English.

Thought The Dark Knight Rises was mediocre at best. You know it's a bad sign when you're sitting there rooting for the villain to kill everyone and get it over with.

This film made it clear that the success of its predecessor hinged largely on the Joker. I don't just mean his performance, as stellar as that was; the duality, the polar clash of opposing ideas between Batman/Joker was pretty well executed and a delight to watch. Bane was... a very typical superhero villain who was given shockingly little character development and backstory. He did headline the most interesting scene in the film, which was unfortunately shown in the previews (the stadium blowing up), lessening the impact.

A lot of plot explanation was left up to the imagination of the audience as well, and that always sucks. I'm supposed to believe that every criminal and half-criminal in the city works for Bane from the get-go? I'm supposed to believe he can somehow quarantine an entire island just by blowing up the bridges? I'm supposed to accept a half-assed 5-sentence scene with the president as explanation for why Gotham is completely shut-off from the rest of the world for 5 months? You're telling me the might of the entire United States couldn't do anything to help aside from quarantine everyone in? And then don't get me started on Batman's miraculous escape from the pit... awful awful awful.

For 2-and-some-change hours, it felt like a 4 hour film. But since this is Christopher Nolan and Batman, I know everyone is creaming their pants over it.
