Germany or France?

Unread postby Rockabye » 4th August, 2017, 7:55 am

I will go to the university next year and I have two chances: Germany and France. Which country is the best to live in terms of LGBT rights, people's manner to the tourists, people's manner to LGBT members, life quality, education, beauty of country, best boys :rofl2: etc. and every other terms which you can also add?

Well I've visited both countries and it's actually just personal preference but I think France is a better choice. It's just a very romantic country overall. The people there are also very kind and all. But education-wise I think Germany scores better, overall I don't really like Germany that much as a country but it certainly has its beauty, I just think France's beauty exceeds Germany's beauty.
But the choice is completely yours :P

I am neither French nor German… or even European for that matter, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but France appears better and you will also have an easier time learning French than German.

not really, pity, for an english speaker german is actually a lot easier, and it's not like turkish is a latin language.

German actually seems harder. But like I said, my thoughts are grains of salt. :P

Not necessarily! I may be biased because I'm Dutch, but I found French a lot harder to learn at school than German, mostly due to all the different kinds of verbs with all their different kinds of conjugations. If you already speak English, which is easier probably depends on whether you find it easier to learn new foreign vocabulary (where there is comparatively lots of overlap between English and French) or grammar rules (where there is more overlap between English and German due to their common Germanic origins).

But unless you're really good at learning languages and realistically plan to pick up the language really quickly, I'd recommend going to Germany because Germans are far more like to speak English than French people are (and the ones who do speak it tend to be better at it — again probably because English is really a Germanic language that just happens to have picked up lots of vocabulary from French).

Around 70% of people living in Germany speak English, while in France the latest figure I've seen was 39%.

Due to the "and...also" construction, I took that as applying (mostly) to the "France appears better" bit. :P

I've been to both, and have family in both countries. I am actually in France right now (somewhere south of Lyon) and was in Germany (Leipzig/Berlin) earlier this year.

Tbh, with all due respect to Turkey, I would say both France and Germany are much better in terms of LGBT acceptance, education and quality of life. So you can't make a wrong choice really.

Besides, they are neighbours, and both EU, so you can easily live in one and visit the other, as well as many other countries.

Personally, I really love Berlin, but its not to everyone's taste. Its very hip, young, liberal and lively, but also quite ugly, messy and brutalist. Its a poor city stuck in a rich country.

France has a pretty solid revolutionary history! Go there.

The German revolution sucks balls.

When i visited Paris, I was blown away by the beauty of city (specifically at night time). Romantic aswell. But I have only been in airports in Germany. So I can't really compare.

Come in France ! The country is globally open-minded about LGBT people and the life quality is more than correct. Also, we have super cute cities and there are some hot boys too.

I was not talkin about me; but you have to recognize that France is an aesthetically beautiful country.
