I'd love to be marriee, and double-barrel our surname.

Would you want to be married?

Not out of the question for me but I don't see it as a strong priority, at least not early on in a relationship or even as a central life goal.

Would you take your partner's name or add it onto yours?

Personally I'm kind of a fan of the "Carter-Knowles" naming style so I'd want to combine them.

Do you think it's for life?

With my view of marriage and my surrounding family it should be. I wouldn't take it up if we're going to move on like 10 years down the line.

I think a couple things about marriage I would ultimately consider are the benefits it offers and the "official-ness" of the entire thing.

It really depends on the legal benefits (which I'm not really versed on) - if they're worth it, then sure. But if not, then no. I see little point.

In all seriousness. Yes I would want to get married to the right person. Would I take their name? Probably not. Would I double barrel, I don't know. If its a short name maybe, two long surnames don't really role nicely off the tongue. I would hope that its for life, but people change. And at the end of the day, we can't stop people from changing

No

I wouldn't because I don't plan on getting married. If you're going to get married though, my personal opinion is that compound names can become increasingly onerous overtime especially if it becomes a substantial social trend. Although taking your partners name on the basis of some sense of tradition seems tired and anachronistic.

Well yes, that seems to be the whole point of it all.

I think the societal pressure of marriage or traditionalist commitment on the queer community that came along with the normalization of gay culture/life really ruined queer culture in some respects. When we were still openly reviled and unaccepted, the culture was much more alive and the members much freer in some respects. I would like to see a queer culture that once again rejects the mundane and unsubstantial in a society which includes many aspects of traditional marriage.

Would you want to be married?

Yes, I strongly want to get married and settle down with someone. I like the symbolism of it and the strength it brings to a relationship, not to mention the legal and financial stability it brings. I feel no need to denounce heteronormative culture to validate my homosexuality, and the concept of the nuclear family appeals to me on a level.

Owning a wedding venue might be partially to blame for this.

Would you take your partner's name or add it onto yours?

Depends on how he feels, and what his name is.

Do you think it's for life?

I wouldn't get married with someone who I didn't think I could live the rest of my life with, and I don't think really anyone, apart from gold diggers, do.

Would you want to be married?
Yes, I know that I want to be married to the person I'm going to spend the rest of my life with. I may be a little cheesy (hence my usertitle) but I know I'm going to want to be married. Now it's not my ultimate goal in life, but it's something I want in my future. I want to have a husband, a house, kids, a dog, and just be settled down with everything. I of course want time to be wild, explore the world, etc. but after that, the idea of settling down with somebody I love, is calming to me.

Would you take your partner's name or add it onto yours?
Hmmm, I haven't really thought about that. I for one don't like the idea of losing my last name, but I don't want my husband to have to give up his either. My last name is rather long tho so combining names may be a bit of a mouthful. I think it would really depend on who I was with, and what both our thoughts are.
Do you think it's for life?
Yes 100% yes. For me if I am getting married, I'm staying with that person for life. I am making the choice to spend the rest of my life with them, because it is something I want to do. Obviously marriage doesn't always turn out that way, but I know that for me I am going to be fully committed. I want to believe it is always for life, but that's just not the truth, but for me it will be. (I don't mean that as my marriage is gonna completely work the first time, because I can't predict that, but I know that I'm not going to give up)

I do want to get married, and i'd definitely consider it as a for life thing going in. I wouldn't be against ending it if it just didn't work out, but I like to think that by the time marriage is being considered that we're past the point of knowing if it'll work or not in the long term.

One of the things I kind of struggled with when I was coming to terms with myself was being the only son, and the only male relative able to pass down my last name & I felt like being gay would make me not able to do that and somehow letting my dad's side of the family down because of that? I feel like i've gotten over that flawed line of thinking, but I'm still no really sure how i'd handle that name situation and I suppose it'd depend on my partner, really

Yes, I do hope to get married someday. It's a public declaration of love and I think that's pretty cute.

I'd likely take my husbands name, as I'm not too keen on my family. I'm ready to sever some ties. Snip snip.

I wouldn't enter into marriage without the very firm belief that the two of us are wholly compatible and capable of sustaining a healthy relationship. Ideally, yes, marriage would be forever.

Would you want to be married?
I have to say I haven't thought this that much because.. well it's not really a thing that I have to deal with that soon... :P But I don't think it's a necessarity for me, I think I could live without ever being married to someone but then again, with a right guy why the hell not :D
Would you take your partner's name or add it onto yours?
That would probably really depend on the name... I kinda like my surname but I'm not too keen to it so I could take/add my partner's name then too. I don't think this is really a relevant thing though tbh...
Do you think it's for life?
Yes. Why else would you get then married?? I think that's kinda the point that when you find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, you can marry them... :P
What're your views on marriage? Does it still even matter?
I feel like that for many people the consept of marriage is not that important/valuable anymore. For myself I see it as a pretty cute/lovely, but a little old-fashioned, way to commit to a person you love. I hope that it still matters though and that same-sex-marriages will be a "normal" thing in the future.
